JUL 2 51980 MEM0RANUM FOR: THE FILES FROM:
R.11eal Moore Senior Licensing Officer
SUBJECT:
fit' DINGS RELATING TO THE IMPORT OF HIGH-ENRICHED URANIUM BY UNION CARBIDE-ISNM80008 Union Carbide Corporation applied for a license on July 2,1980 to import 10.8 kilograms of uranium, enriched to 93.15% in the form of MTR fuel elements plus scrap, from France. The fuel elements contain uranium previously authorized for export (XSNM01595) for the fabrication of fuel by CERCA for the Union Carbide reactor at Tuxedo, New York. The scrap was generated from material previously exported under XSNM01354.
Shipment will be in approved containers by air and truck from France to the reactor site in ten approximately equal sized loads.
This import request is similar to previously approved requests, for example, ISNM780009, and presents no material changes in circumstance from the conditions and findings existing at the time of the issuance of that license. Consequently, it is recommended that this license be issue.
