Region III to perfor= a facility =odification to address the requirements of Supplement No 2, dated July 22, 1980, to IE Bulletin Jo 80-17 (July 3, 1980)
" Failure of 76 of 185 Control Rods to Fully Insert During a Scra at a BWR.".
Consumers Power Company ce=pleted the required modification and provided telephone notification of completion to Mr Frank Reimann, Region III on July 19, 1980. Mr Rebann noted that he had just been informed by the NRC Resident Inspector - Big Rock Point that the modification had been completed and vitnessed by the inspector.
l The modification's purpose was to "... provide an alternate vent path continu-ously open to building atmosphere on the side of the vent valve piping away from
,i the SDV."
This objective was cchieved by re=oving a pipe cap from the stand pipe of the vent drain line to the enclosure dirty su=p, such that there is an unobstructed vent path to the containment building atmosphera.
