postmarked March 24, 1980, you may be interested in the enclosed l
Chapter V on " Coal and Nuclear: The Transitional Energy Sources," from the Second National Energy Plan transmitted to the Congress by President Carter on May 7,1979. The conclusion stated there is:
"The Nation's mid-term energy situation depends on successfully maintaining and expanding the use of coal and nuclear power. These two sources are com-merically available today and can be enlarged if the markets grew and their critical environmenal and social problems are overcome."
Every effort is being made to ensure the public health and safety at all nuclear power plants that are currently in operation or that may start operating in the future.

I am very concerned about the current controversy about nuclear energy.
I am against further development of any nuclear power plants.
My major concern is the possibility of exposure to people and to the environment of deadly radioactive materials.
There is no insurance for safe protection of these matorials.
There is always the danger of sabotage, and I strongly believe that this risic cannot and should no t be taken.
Nuclear energy is a very expensive source of energy.
Too expensive in my opinion.
The money used for nuclear energy should be used to develop more reliable sources of energy.
In 1979 nuclear energy only provided 39 of all the U.S.
energy and is expected to produce the same a=ount in the year 2000, i
The storage of waste is another very important problem to be considered.
Here again there is the problem of sabotage.
The wasto has to be stored for thousands of years, so that the highly radioactive materials will become less radioactive.
i The amount of time these wasta materials has.to be stored is too lang of a time to be guaranteed as safe, j
Muclear energy is not that important as a future source of energy and should be slowly phased out as new sources of energy are realized.
