PRAIRIE ISLAND NUCLEAR GENERATING PLANT Docket No. 50-306 Inspection Report 50-306/78-24 In further response to your letter of January 23, 1979, which transmitted Inspection Report 50-306/78-24, the following is offered.

In our response of December 13, 1979, we anticipated replacement of Anker Material de-Holth snubbers by May 1980 if material delivery was complete.

livery is not complete but is expected to be shortly.

However, analysis of the work procedures for these replace =ents has led to the conclusion that the work should not be done with the units above cold shutdown. Accordingly, thc repiccements are now planned for refueling shut-downs (August 1980 for Unit 1, January 1981 for Unit 2) unless an earlier cold shutdown of sufficient length takes place.
