Arthur W.

Murphy, Esq., Chairman Atomic Safety and Licensing Board Colunbia University School of Law 435 West 116th Street New York, N.Y.

10027 In the M*atter of Consumers Power Company Midland P{ ant, Units 1 and 2 Docket Nos. 50-32 9) and 50-333 s

Dear Chairman !!urphy:

I have been away from the office since February 11.

There was no " accident at Dow Chemical's plant" as des:ribed in the postscript to the Saginaw February 12, 1972 letter.

I assume the Saginaw letter refers to the gasoline spill described in the enclosed copies of news articles pub-lished on January 3, 1972.

This kind af loose charge is unfortunate further evidence of the extent to which Opposing Intervenors will go to prevent any part of the six thousand page record from remaining closed.

Respectfully.
