799 Roosevelt Road Glen Ellyn, IL 60137 MIDIAIm I;UCIEAR PIErf - UNIT IO 2 IIIER PIATE INIERIM REPORT - DOCKET HCS 50-329 Am 50-330 On March 30,1977, per 10 CFR 50 55(e), we provided an interim report on the bulging of the Unit no 2 liner plate at tha Midland site. This report is again an interim report in that the corrective action and the safety implicatiens of the correction to the liner plate and concrete wall have not been co=pleted.
Sunnlemental Description of the Condition In addition to the information provided in our March 30, 1977 report, we wish to report that additional damage has been found in a small adjacent area about 3' x 10' (azimuths 2700 to 280, near elevation 670') where welds attaching the wind girder to the liner plate have caused small tears and puckering of the plate when the wind girder was deflected by the bul ed liner plate.
6 Status To date, most of the bulged panel has been re=oved. Work is progressing in the following areas:
1.
Removal of the 1/2" plate around the penetrations at azimuths 263 and 2670 and elevations 605'-0" and 609'-0".
2.
Removal of leak chase channels at azimuths 250 and 2700 and the re=aining portions of the liner plate attached to the Wl!+ x 61 columns at these azimuths.
3 Removal of wind girder at elevation 670'-0" and between azimuth 0
0 270 and 280.

Work is continuing to complete the evaluation of damage, the required tests and analyses, and the definition of repair methods.
