This letter is also an interim report' in that the final design modifications are not anticipated to be co=pleted until late su=cer of 1978. B&W has approved the design modification concept, and the required supporting engineering analysis has been completed.

General Electric, the motor manufacturer, cannot revise the detail drawings and e field chan6e authorization package cennot be prepared to provide the

~ specific modifications for each motor until each motor is examined. Two of the motors are not available as they are presently located at Byron Jackson for performance testing.

Another interim report vill be sent on or before June 30, 1978.
