Dear Mr. Keppler:
L Your letter of January 3,1974 requested that a determina-tion be made whether two types of valves, identified in Directorate of Regulatory Operations Bulletin No. 74-1 are installed or scheduled to be installed in the Midland Plant. These valves consist of (a) motor-operated globe valves manufactured by the Walworth Co.w and (b) two-inch, double disc gate valves manufactured by the Darling Valve and Manufacturing Company. Please be advised that neither of these two types of valves have been installed or purchased for the Midland Plant; and, hence, no corrective action is necessary.
Concerning the possible future installation of these valves, no purchases of the two-inch, double disc Darling gate valves are anti-cipated; however, the Walworth Company may become a successful bidder for some of the motor-operated globe valves installed in the Midland Plant. The valve deficiency identified in DOL Bulletin 74-1 and the corrective action taken by the Walworth Co=pany to preclude reoccur-rence of this failure will be taken into consideration when evaluating that company's bid.
