g MIDLAND PROJECT DOCKET N0 50-329, 50-330 Q'fNd hu, REACTOR BUILDING SPRAY SYSTDi FILE: 0505 2, B6 5 SERIAL: 4810 The purpose of this letter is to advise the HRC that Consumers Power Company is considering a design change in the iodine reduction portions in the reactor building spray system for Midland Plant Units 1 and 2.

The considered system incorporates hydrazine and disodium (or trisodium) phosphate as the iodine reduction and pH control agents respectively, instead of sodium thiosulfate and sodiu hydroxide. Schematics of this system are contained in Figures 1 and 2 and a system description is contained in Attachment A.

We are requesting that a meeting be held between Consumers Power Cvepany and the etaff in the near future to discuss this proposed design change.
