SUBJECT:
G VALUE FOR DAVIS BESSE This is in regard to the ACRS letter of January 14, 1977 from M. Bender, Chairman to the Honorable Marcus A. Rowden, Chairnan of the Nuclear Regulatory Comunission.
It advises that the Committee believes that an acceleration of 0.2g would be more appropriate for the SSE acceleration than the 0.15g for which Davis Bessa Unit 1 was desi;;ned, because of changes in the regulatory approach to selection of seismic design bases.
We have recommended that the SSE accelerstion be 0.2g in the free field at the surface for Davis Besse Units 2 & 3.
It seems clear that the 0.2g for Unit I recommended by the.WS is to be applied in accordadce y
with current SRP's.
