, for Light Wat'er Reactors Division of Project Management SURVEILLANCE TUBE VIERATION TEST I'i DAVIS BESSE UNIT ONE - DOCKET 50-346 In a meeting on May 26,1976, 3&W presented a sunnary of the surveillance specimen holder tube (SSHT) redesign program and program to test the pro-totype SSHT during the Davis Besse Unit No. I hot functional test.
In addition, B&W has committed to submit a set of topical reports covering the design and test program in September 1976.
The Mechanical Engineering Branch, Division of Systens Safety, has revieved the praliminary redesien infornation and the test proSrnn. Ve find the test program proposed for the SSHT in Davis 3 esse Unit No. 1 to be acceptable provided that one additional pair of strain gages is installed on the lovest support bracket of the same tubo having strain gages nountad on the upper support bracket. Final acceptance of the SSHT redesiSn is held pending our evaluation of the forthcoming topical reports.
