SDAR: CP Bo-028 (INTERIH REPORT) f Gentlemen:

i On October 18, 1989, TV Electric verbally notified the NRC of deficiencies in i

the air start system for the Unit 1 Train B Emergency Diesel Generatcr (EDG).

Specifically, the air admission (block) valves leak, and manufacturing defects have been identified on the starting air cylinder valves.

Further engineering evaluation is required to determine the safety

-i significance of these deficiencies. Our next report on this issue will be provided prior to Unit 1 fuel load.
