- requested an amendment to License No. SNM.1227 to allow storage of transuranic
. waste in.a new location and' disconnection of the criticality detection system under prescribed conditions. ' The transuranic waste is stored in. drums. The-
.1 exhaust from the storage, area is filtered prior to' release. The criticality E
detection system must be taken out of service periodically to perform preventive
- maintenance. ' The movement or processing of fissile material is. halted for. the n

. duration of the outage. With those precautions, there is no increase in the.
potential for or~ consequences from radiological accidents. Neither the storage
