b) BG&E Ictter dated 6/30/80 from A. E. Lundvall, Jr.

to D. G. Eisenhut, same subject.

Gentlemen:

In our effort to respond to the requirements of Reference (a),

Baltimore Gas and Electric, Northeast Utilities and the Omaha Public Power District' hereby sutnits ten (10) copies of Revision 1 to Appendix E of the Corbustion Engineering Owners Group Final Report submitted in Reference (b).

One of these copies is being forwarded directly to your Mr. Steve Hosford for reviev.

The revised Appendix E presents a detailed description of the analysis used to demonstrate acceptable ECCS performance with reduced area

coolant channels in the peripheral fuel assemblies. The results of this analysis show that the. current licensing audysis pertaining to the hottest

. fuel rod in the core is more limiting than that for the hottest rod in a

' peripheral l assembly with reduced area coolant channels.

We' believe that on the basis of these results and the results submitted in ' Reference (b) that continued operation of Calvert Cliffs Units 11and.2, Fort Calhoun and Millstone Unit 2 is justified.

Very truly yours, i
