NRC BULLETIN NO. 80-08 EXAMINATION OF CONTAINMENT LINER PENETRATION WELDS NO. 1 AND 2 UNITS HOPE CREEK GENERATING STATION In reply to IE Bulletin No. 80-08 dated April 7, 1980, we offer the following:

The Hope Creek Generating Station will contain the flued head design as described in Bulletin No. 80-08.

None of the flued heads have been installed to date.

Heads will be fabricated to ASME Section III, 1974 Edition through the 1974 Winter Addenda using single V groove welds without backing rings.

The nozzle flued head and expansion joint materials and pip.

cizes are listed in the attached Table 1.

The joints are considered Nuclear Class II and radiography will be performed.

Should any additional information be desired, we will be pleased to further discuss it with you.
