Response to IE Bulletin No. 80-10, " Contamination of Non-Radioactive System and Resulting Potential for Unmonitored, Uncontrolled Release to Environment"

Dear Sir:

Your letter, Reference (b), identified a contamination event at another facility and requested that Maine Yankee document completion of the actions required in items 1 and 2.

Maine Yankee has completed a design and operation review to (1) identify systems that are considered non-radioactive but could become contaminated through interface with' radioactive systems; and (2) established a sampling program to promptly identify any contaminating events which could lead to unmonitored, uncontrolled releases to the environment.

We t rus t this information is satisfactory; however, should you require additional information, please contact us.

Very truly yours, MAINE YANKEE ATOMIC POWER COMPANY D. E. Moody Manager of Operations RHG/ncj M
