E WASHINGTON, D. C. 20555 JUL.17 1980 Mr. Tom A. Hendric'kson Vice President Burn' and Roe, Inc.

496 Kinderkamack Road Oradell, NJ 07649

Dear Mr. Hendrickson:

SUBJECT:

BURNS AND f!0E, INC. ORGANIZATIONAL CHANGES In your letter of June 30, 1980, you discuss a change in the Burns and Roe, Inc.

corporate organization and its influence on the effectivity of the quality assur-ance program; you indicate that the Manager of Corporate QA has the authority and responsibilities previously assigned to QA Planning and Engineering; and, in the pages extracted from the B&R CORPORATE OPERATIONS MANUAL, you described the QA and non-QA responsibilities of the Director of Project Support and Quality Assurance Divisions. You also indicate that the position of Manager of Corporate QA, the highest position in Burns and Roe, Inc. with no responsibility outside the QA area, is equal to that of the highest line manager responsible for direct supervision of work under the QA program. Based on this infonnation and the information provided by Mr. Rausch in his letter of May 16, 1980, we find the organization change accept-able.

We look forward to your proposed revision to the topical report which, we under-stand, will include ase pre-approved organization changes along with other changes.

Sincerely, N
