Dear :

ir. Schwencer:

'Ihis is in respcnse to your Eicve=ter 9,1973 letter which forwarded contents resulting fren your review of the piping and vessel code classification (Fig. 4.1-1) included in tr.endnent To. 22.

Your letter asked that we provide our plans for further development of seismic and syste: quality group classification for subject plant.

Your letter also reconnended that we submit the detailed system classification boundaries fcr ycur revieu prior to the cetmitment of resources for the construction of such systens.

We have reviewed the enclosure to your Icvember 9th letter.

We plan to design and construct the below-listed systens as you have suggested:

1.

Service Water Systen 2.

Sanpling Systen 3.

Diesel Fuel Oil System 4.

Instrument Air System 5

Liquid and Gaseous Radvaste Systen br. IIansen, of ty staff, along with representatives of Babcock Te Wilcox and Eechtel Associates Professional Corporation met with Mr. MacI:ay and others of the Directorate of Licensing (DCL) Gtaff 8006090[

Mr. A. Schwencer, Chief-2 Docket Hos. 50-329 and 50-330 November 26, 1973 on November 20th. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss detailed interpretations of Regulatory Guides 1.26 and 1.29 as they are applied to the following systems:

1.

Makeup and Purification System i

2.

Component Cooling Water System 3.

Fuel Fool Cooling System We are presently evaluating those systats as a result of the discussion on November 20th. We anticipate making decisions on the desi n criteria for these systems by early 197k after which we vill E

submit-an amendment to our PSAR expanding and/or modifying the seismic and system quality group classifications for these systems.

Relative to your reco=endations that we submit the detailed system classification boundaries for your review prior to cc=mitment of resources, we feel that as a result of the discussion with the DOL

. Staff on Hovember 20th we vill be in compliance with your interpreta-tion of design criteric for = cst of the systens in subject plant.

In order to eliminate a substantial review effort by the DOL Staff, we plan to submit the requested system classification boundaries only for

. those systens where ve are not confident that the Staff vill concur with our design bases.

Yours very truly,

_e.
