SITE EMERGENCY DilE TO FIRE IN DIESEL CENERATOR ROOM No. 21 At I:30 PM, March 7, the licensee reported via " hot line" that a small fire had occurred in Diesel Generator Rnom No. 21 at 1:07 FM and had been extinguished at 1:08 PM.

The fire was caused by fuel oil accumulation in the exhaust manifold.

Oil subsequently leaked out onto the hot nianifold through exhaust piping flanges.

The oil accumulation was due to repeated starts 'and stops of the diesel during diesel maintenance. There was no damage to the diesel or any components.

A site emergency was declared at 1:07 PM as part of the licensce's fire

.prucedure and secured at 1:17 PM.

Media interest is expected due to close enverage of the facility. The licensee is considering a press release.

The NRC is not planning a press release.

The State of Maryland has been informed.
