Gentlemen:
Our letter of December 8, 1977, proposed to change the Arkansas Nuclear One-Unit 1 (ANO-1) control room IWAC isolation evstem design criteria closure time to be consistent with that of the ANO-2 control room. We felt that this change involved an unreviewed safety question which requires that we have your approval prior to implementation.
Subsequent discussions between your Mr. R. Snaider and our staff have determined that approval of the change was contingent on inclu-sion of a closure time limit in the ANO-1 Technical Specifications. Therefore, we submit this proposed amendment to the ANO-1 Technical Specifications.
The content and wordin our conversations,g have been discussed with members of your staff.
Based on we have proceeded with the design change.
May we have your approval of this proposed anendment, as soon as possible, in order to not lengthen our refueling shutdown.
