Dear Sir:
It seems 'that the Toledo Metropolitan Area (almost half a million people). is to have Atomic Power plants 25 miles east (Davis-Besse),and 2 5 miles north (Enrico Fermi).
Not one voice - public or private - has be'en raised to
, question the necessity of these two plants or our safety.
This important decision concerning our future is being made without ' discussion other than straight news reporting of the hearings in Port Clinton.
Only a Bowling Green University group, a Cleveland' group,
,,, Glen Lau from Oak Harbor and the Sand Beach Association have questioned the necessity and the safety factors of the Davis-Besse plant.
No one to my knowledge (which is gleaned from the media) has expressed any interest in the. Monroe plant known as Enrico Fermi -
even though their first plant remained closed for several years for unpublicized reasons.
c All of the groups that were permitted to intervene in the A.E.C. Safety and Licensing Board hearings on the Davis-Besse plant are under-financed and no match for the utilities either in legal representation or public relations. Glen Lau was stricken with the mumps during the hearing and was denied a continuance to
, complete his testimony.

Whether the winds are from the west or the northeast, the Toledo area will be the recipient of even low level radiation and the heated waters of Lake Erie.
Check your homeowners policy - you will find you are not insured against loss by nuclear reaction or nuclear. radiation or radioactive contamination, whether controlled or uncontrolled, whether.such loss be direct, proximate # or remote.
Believe me, I am not an expert on these, problems, but
'shouldn't our public officials, management, labor, University,
., media and civic groups be at least interested in research and discussion?
I, feel compelled to raise 'the question.
It is not too late to write President Nixon; the A.E.C.
