During the course of the special prehearing conference regarding the cap-tioned matter, held on May 22, 1973, there was some discussion (Tr. 27 -

30) cf a portion of the comuments from the Department of the Interior on an Environmental Statement issued by the regulatory staff regarding a nuclear power plant other than the Davis-Besse hellity. Some of this discussion related to the relevance of such comments to the Davis-Besse facility.

~J It has come to my attention that the Department of Interior submitted a letter containing a similar comment with respect to the Davis-Besse facility. I aan.

enclosing a copy of this letter, dated March 12, 1973 from W.W. Lyons, the~

Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Interior, to Daniel R. Muller, the Assistant Director for Environmental Projects Directorate of Licensing of the Com-mission, commenting upon the Draft Environmental Statement, related to the construction of the Davis-Besse facility, which was issued by the Commission in November,1972. Inasmuch as this letter was received after publication of the Final Environmental Statement (FES), it is not included in the FES.

OThe letter, of course, was sent to the Washington, D.C., and to the Port Clinton Public Document Roossa upon receipt. However, neither the Board
