. My dear Mr. Ashley: .

Davis-E sse I!ucicar Pr.rer plent Last veck we sent you a copy of an information letter being railed

, to our Sand Beach Association membership. Uc have a response from Mr. John K. Davis of Toledo Elison Company and a copy of his letter is attached.

Our question and concern is not whether more land vill be required for the proposed poirer station, but if the facility is completed and given a permit to operate, would the indicated tuo mile "enclu-sion zone" for a reactor of the size proposed be detrimental to our community of Sar.d- B2ach and the surrounding aren? Specifically, could vc be subject to conder".ation and forced expropriation or

.- restrictions to our activitics or crposure to health hazards?

These questions have not been ans tered and we are planning to attend the Atomic Energy Commission hearing at the Port Clinton Armory, Monday, Jan'uary 25, 1971, in an attempt to obtain further informabion.

  • The meeting is scheduled to start at 1:30 p.m. rather than at 2:00 p.m..

as reported in our initial letter to you.

We vill appreciate your consia. oration of this matter and any support which vill help assure that all factors are considered and decisions made which vill be in the test interests of a majority of the people ~

Dear Mr. Cook:

A message from the Sand Beach Board, addressed to members '

of the Sand Beach Association and others, has come to our attention.

In that massage it is stated that "it appears very likely that all Sand Beach and Long Bea6h properties, including all

- will have to be vacated and sold if the Edison Company is

. I don't know the source of this misinformation, but I want '

Dear Sir:

W'o realize the great need for electricity, but is the Atomic

, Energy Com.n.ission and the electricial cenpanios jopredicing the lives of the peoplo of the United States and the world with radio-activo pollutants?

The Dcvis Bosse nuclear plant, 30 miles north of our town, is q now in the process of construction. The plant is new waiting

/ for a permit to continue. We don't believe people are being l [i inferned tbf the possible dangers if those radio-activo pollutants are allowed to be scattered throughout nur atmosphere.
!i Why has infant mortality increased in other areas uhcro those plants have been constructed? Large nuclear plants that emit radiation can causo genetic nutations, leukemia, cancer of thyroid and other U horrible consequences of which we are unawaro. We ence thought DDT was very beneficial but we are now realizing the sts.ggering
) implications that are just now, after 20 years, being revealed.

A vast amount of property has been purchased by an c1cetric company close to Sandusky Bay. It doesn't take a genius to figure out the fact that ANOTHEt nuc] ar plant will bo built in that area. Is it in the best interests of the peoplo , to eventually, havo Lake Erio surrcunding by these producers of radic-activity? t , Sandusky County and surrcunding counties ha to been Great farming v areas. What terrible consequences will result frc= this radiation settling on we, the people, the livestock and the crops? We know it is pretty difficult to stop BIG BISNESS and PROGRESS, so I urge you to support any legislation which will force these companies to use all their skill and ted2ical knculedge to make them completely safo, beforo issuing permits. Othorwiso, we may destroy ourselves. Sincerely, ,
