Dear Mr. Ashley:
On Monday, January 25, 1971, further hearings will be held before the Atomic Energy Commission in Port Clinton, Ohio, concerning the proposed installation of a nuclear pouer facility by the Toledo Edison Company.
This facility has been the source of considerabic controversy.
[
Residents of the Lake Eric shore area, Lucas and t.'ood Countics, and other adjacent areas have attempted to protect their property rights, preserve the natural beauty of the Lake Eric shoreline, and also to be cognizant of the potential threat to animal and human life that accompanics the installation of an atomic facility.
- The original site and physical plant have now been considerably increased in size without prior disclosure by'the Toledo Edison Company.
The area or danger zone is now four miles rather than g
two, and the secondary zone extends to include East Toledo.
For some unknown reason the increase in capacity and land requirecents was withheld from the residents of Lucas, Wood, and Ottawa Countics.
I feel that the residents of Lucas,.' Wood, and Ottawa Countics have s a right to question the expansion of this facility.
Further, the tia'aner in which this has been aandled raises a doubt in my mind concerning the credibility of Toledo Edison, Davis-Sesse, and other interested parties.
Your attention and assistan, e in resolving the serious questions raised by this hearing would be appreciated.
Picase advise ma what action you propose taking to assist the residents of Lucas, Wood, and Ottawa C6 unties in arriving at a satisfactory solution to this
