Dear Lud:
The attached letter is self-cxplanatory.
It is essential that the necessity and safety factors be thoroughly researched to deter-mine whether two nuclear power plants should be constructed within a fifty mile distance on Lake Erie, with Toledo halfway between.
Your cooperation is asked and will be appreciated.
Sincerely,

Dear Sir:
It seems that the Toledo Metropolitan Area (almost half a million people) is to have Atomic Power plants 25 miles east (Davis-Besse) and 25 miles north (Enrico Fermi).
Not one voice - public or private - has been raised to question the necessity of these two plants or our safety.
This important decision concerning our future is being made without discussion other than straight news reporting of the hearings in Port Clinton.
Only a Bowling Green University group, a Cleveland' group, Glen Lau from Oak Harbor and the Sand Beach Association have
" ' questioned the necessity and the safety factors of the Davis-3 esse plant.
No one to my knowledge (which is gleaned from the media) has expressed any*intsrest in the Monroe plant known as Enrico Fermi -
even though their first p1* ant remained closed for several years for unpublicized reasons.
c All of the groups-that were permitted to intervene in tne A.E.C.. Safety and Licensing Board hearings on the Davis-Besse plant are under-financed and no match for the utilities either in legal representation or public relations. Glen Lau was stricken with the mumps during the hearing and was denied a continuance to l
, comp ete his testimony.

I still believe in the power of the people.
Whether the winds are from the west or the tortheast, the Toledo area will be the recipient of even lvw level radiarion and the heated waters of Lake Erie.
Check your homeowners policy - you will find you are not insured against loss by nuclear reaction or nuclear. radiation or radioactive contamination, whether cont.olled or uncontrolled, whether such loss b'e direct, proximate or remote.
Believe me, I am not an expert on + nese problems,
- shouldn't our public officials, managenent, ~
but labor, University, o, media and civic groups be at least interested in research and discussion?
I. feel compelled to rait e 'the question.
is not too late to write Prasident Nixon; the A.E.C.
It Atomic Safety and Licensing Board, Washington, D.C.; Governor John Gilligan, Columbus, Ohio; Congressmen Delbert Latta and Thomas 8 Ludlow Ashley, Washington, D.C. to expa ss your views.
Our grandchildren, if they chooso to remain in the Toledo i
area, will be affected by,the. decisions made now by you. and our government.
is up to all of us to take action now or it wili again It be "too little and too late.".
Sincerely,
