Electrical, Instrumentation and Control Systems APPLICANT'S RESPONSE DATE NECESSARY FOR COMPLETION OF NEXT ACTION PLANNED ON PROJECT: October 12, 1973 DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSE: First round questions REVIEW STATUS: Complete The enclosed list of questions was prepared by the L:RS, Electrical, Instrumentation and Control Systems Branch. The questions are based on current IEEE Standards, Regulatory Guides, Technical Postions and, compliance with those sections of 10CFR 58 applicable to the Eranchas area of responsibility.
We anticipate some difficulty with regard to the safety classification of the automatic control of the Auxiliary Feedwater System (AFS).
Automatic control is provided by the Integrated Control Systen which is not a safety system. The FSAR states that only ::tanpal control of AFS is required for safety. However, no bases or analyses are presented to substantiate this.
