September 18, 1969 Files TELECON REGARDING THERMAL EFFECTS IN LAKE ERIE.GD DAVIS-BESSE PLANT DOCKET No. 50-346 I received a call from Miss B. Braitman (Industrial Participation) with regard to an inquiry from the office of Congressman Vigonito (24th District in Pennsylvania). The inquiry concerned thermal effects in Lake Erie as affected by proposed operation of the Davis-Besse plant.
In response to the above, I called Mr. Peladeau (180 - 5406) and indicated that our review was not conplete with regard to the pro-posed facility and that we presently have no authority with regard to thermal effects. Consequently, I could not give any specific details; however, I did indicate that the applicants plan a program that would include a study of thermal diffusion effects in Lake Erie.
There are no present plans for the installation of cooling towers.
The foregoing action took place on Thursday, September 11, 1969.
