! hank you for your letter and phone call of October 18th regarding tour initiative on operational nuclear power plant safety with Chairman Protsunko of the USSR State Comittee for Utilitation of Ator41c Fnergy.
I believe your prsposals should be considered under the Joint Coordinating Committee on Civilfan Nylior Reactor Safety (JCCCNRS).
I share your views that reactor safety is an important area.
The meeting you hava scheduled on November 1, 1989, will provide an excellent opportunity to explore this initiative.
Mr. James Taylor, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission's (NRC's) Acting Executive Director for Operations and U.S. Co-chairman of the JCCCNRS, will represent the NRC at this meeting and will provide the NRC perspective.
