.i Trojan Nuclear Plant Docket 50-344 License NPF-1 U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission ATTN Document Control Desk Washington DC 20555 Dear Sir License Chante Application 181 Attached is one signed original of License Change Application (LCA) 181 requesting amendment of Operating License NPF-1.
This LCA changes the minimum requirement for the number of operable in-core detector thimbles from 75 percent to 50 percent for Cycle 12 operation.
Because recent inspection results performed in accordance with NRC Bulletin No. 88 09,
" Thimble Tube Thinning in Westinghouso Reactors", required plugging more thimbles than originally anticipated, we will be close to our Trojan Technical Specificatione (TTS) limit.
If during the cycle we cannot meet this limit, we would then require an emergency review of this LCA in order to achieve our licensed power level. We therefore request approval by December 15, 1989, since the proposed change is applacable only to the present cycle.
Replacement of the defective thimbles during the next refueling outage is planned.
Also attached is one signed copy of a certificate of Service for LCA 181 to the Chief Executive of the county in which the facility is located and the 1/irector of the State of Oregon, Department of Energy.
