This refers to the quality assurance inspection of packaging and transporta.
tion activities at Chem. Nuclear Systems, Inc. conducted by Messrs. L. Gordon
and J. Jankovich of this Office and Mr. D. Kasnicki of the NRC Region 11
Office, on June 19 22, 1989.
Areas examined during the inspection and our findings are discussed in the en.
closed report. Five items of nonconformance with U.S. Nuclear Regulatory
Commission (NRC) requirements were identified during the course o' this inspec.
tion. 'ihese nonconformances are listed in item 4 of the inspection report.
With regard to the nonconformances, please provide, within 60 days from the date

of this letter, written explanations or statements describing corrective actions,
taken or planned, the dates when the corrective actions will be completed, and

measures taken to preclude recurrence.

In accordance with 10 CFR Section 2.790 of the Conrnission's regulations, a copy

of this letter and the enclosed inspection report will be placed in the NRC
Public Docusent Room.
