Marvin R. Peterson, Acting Assistant Director Export / Import and International Safeguards Office of International Programs

SUBJECT:

PROPOSED EXPORT THAT NO LONGER REQUIRES COMMISSIONER REVIEW (XUO8499)

Attached for your review are copies of a pending license application and pro-posed license for the export of 27,300 kilograms of depleted uranium to the United Kingdom over a three-year period for use as shielding for medical x-ray equipment.

Executive Branch review is not required for the proposed export as the license request falls within the categories of materials listed in 10 CFR 110.41(b) which are not normally reviewed by the Executive Branch; and Commissioner review is no longer required for this type of export in accordance with revised 10 CFR Part 110 regulations. Unless we are advised by your office, within 7 working days from the date of this memorandum, of any particular issues which may require further analysis, it is IP's intention to issue a license for the proposed export.
