s. .., we. pr..a.e. June 4, 1960 Mr. Ronald L. Ballard, Chief Environmental Projects, Branch #1 Office of the Nuclear Reactor Relations U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Coz: mission Washington, D. C. 20545 RE: Docket :To. 50-367

Dear Mr. Ballard:

Enclosed, herewith, are twenty-five (25) copies of the s Winter, 1980 quarterly Report on the Sailly Generating Station's Nuclear-1 Ecological Monitoring Program. This is the 23rd quarterly Report on this work. The Winter 1980 quarterly Report contains analyses and interpreta-tions of data for Janua: through March, 1980. The report also contains the data o. previous samplings, the ar q ses and interpretation of which was not cceplete for inclusion in the previous quarterly Report (Fall 1979).

No terrestrial sampling was scheduled during the winter 1980 calendar quarter. Winter, 1980 aquatic samplirs was performed in January. This sa=pling consisted of sediment sa=ples for trace element analysis.

Additionally, included in this report are analysis of sampling in November,1979 for phytoplankton, periphyton, zooplankton, benthos and water quality. The results of samplings for benthos in August,1979, and periphyton, chlorophyll a in June, 1979 have been included in this report, now that the analysis of those samples is complete.

In general, water quality parameters continue to indicate high water quality in Lake Michigan and generally in the ponds within the study area. There continues to be no discernible effects to the environment due to the con-struction of Sally Generating Station Nuclear-1.

Very truly yours, .
