Operating License No. DPR-50 Docket No. 50-289 IE Bulletin 79-13, 79-13(2)-Feedwater Piping Cracks This letter is submitted to clarify our response to IE Bulletin 79-13 Revision 2 dated October 17, 1979, concerning cracking in feedwater system piping.
We have responded in three (3) letters, June 26, 1979 (GQL 0807), July 13, 1979 (GQL 0883), and August 17, 1979 (GQL 1048), to the NRC letter of May 25, 1979.
In our responses we addressed the design, fabrication, preservice/
inservice inspection, and operating history of the feedwater system. Additionally, a response submitted by the Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) as a spokesman for the B & W Owners Group, which included TMI-I on August 13, 1979, explained how the B & W Facilities plan to meet the intent of IE Bulletin 79-13.
l This plan entails volumetric inspection of all auxiliary feedwater nozzles to piping welds, the addition of ultrasonic testing as a primary test, and evaluation and dispcsition of UT results in accordance with Section XI of the ASME Code at Davis Besse, Oconee III and Rancho Seco.
Therefore, Met-Ed considers the response to this bulletin to be complete.
