related to safety-related cable pulling and terminations. The inspection
involved twenty-seven inspector-hours on site by one NRC inspector.

The IE inspector also interviewed other licensee and contractor personnel
including members of the engineering and QA/QC staffs.
2.
Safety-Related Cable Pulling Activities
The IE inspector reviewed the following procedures relating to the inst 311ation
and tasting of safety-related cables:

CP-306, R3, 3/27/79, "CP for Cable Pulling"
CP-405, R3, 1/26/79, " Insulation Testing of Cables and Equipment"
The review was conducted to verify that the procedures had the required
reviews and approvals, and that the procedures were in accordance with the
licensee's commitment and NRC requirements.
In addition to the above review, the IE inspector randomly selected the
record of installed cables to verify that:
The cables had been irstalled in accordance with procedures.
The installed cables had been tested in accordance with approved
procedures as required.
The cables were properly identified as required.
Any rework was accomplished in accordance with approved procedures.

The following cables were randomly selected for records review:

Testing records for the above cables
The review also consisted of verifying that the cable testing equipment
was in compliance with required calibration requirements.
No items of noncompliance or deviations were identified.
3.
Safetv-Related Cable Termination Activities
The IE inspector reviewed procedure CP-307, R3, 12/28/79, " Cable Terminations
and Splices," to verify that the ; ocedure had the required approvals and
were in accordance with the licensee's commitments and NRC requirements.
Three of the cables selected for review in paragraph 2 were selected for
review.
The review consisted of verifying that the required procedures
had been used and that the termination tools used had been calibrated as
required.
In addition, the IE inspector reviewed the training records of the individuals
performing the' termination activities to verify they had been instrucced in
the correct method of terminating safety-related cables.
No items of noncompliance or deviations were identified.
4.
Plant Tour
The IE inspector toured the plant, examining electrical equipment, cable
trays and cables and cable terminations.
Particular attention was made of the routing paths inside safety-related
cabinets and paneis in relation to separation of redundant safety channels.
The IE inspector noted that in panel CP-7 in the Control Room, the length
of the channel separators from the front to the back of the panel and the
match up of the conduit block out separators may or may not adequately
satisfy General Design Criteria No. 3 and No. 22 of Appendix A to 10 CFR 50.

This possible problem area was pointed out to_the licensee. This item
will remain unresolved pending a review of the licensee's evaluation.
No items of noncompliance or deviations were identified.
5.
Unresolved Items
Unresolved items are those items for which further information is required
to determine whether the items are acceptable items, items of noncompliance,
or deviations. An unresolved item is discussed in paragraph 4.
6.
Exit Interview
The IE inspector met with licensee representatives (denoted in paragraph
1) on April 10, 1980, to summarize the scope and results of the inspection.
