SOUTH TEXAS PROJECT ELECTRIC GENERATING STATION RESPONSE TO NRC INSPECTION FINDINGS DOCKET NOS. 50-498/80-05 AND 50-499/80-05

Dear Mr. Seidle:

The following is our response to the items of noncompliance identified in IE Inspection Report Nos. 50-498/80-05 and 50-499/80-05, dated April 4, 1980 (received by Houston Lighting 6 Power Company on April 7, 1980).

1.

Failure to Provide Timely Reply to the Transmittal Letter for an Item of Noncompliance (Bulge in Containment Liner)

Corrective Action Letters have been sent to all applicable personnel emphasizing the importance of adhering to the specified requirements as referenced in the notice of violation.

Recurrence Control Same as corrective action.

Date Action to be Completed The letters were transmitted on May 7, 1980.

Failure to Provide Timely Notification of Construction Deficiencies (Polar Crane Stud Welds)

Corrective Action Letters have been sent to all applicable personnel emphasizing the importance of adhering to the specified requirements as referenced in the notice of violation.
