Lamb, III 313 Woodhaven Road Chapel Hill, NC 27514 In the Matter of Houston Lighting and Power Company, et al.

(South Texas Project, Units 1 and 2) 1 Docket Nos. 50-498 and 50-499 Gentlemen:

On May 8,1980, Houston Lighting and Power Company, acting on behalf of j

itself and the other Applicants in the referenced proceeding, filed a motion for an order compelling Intervenor, Citizens for Ecuitable Utilities (CEU), to provide new and complete answers to interrogatories dated Novem-ber 5, 1979.

In the NRC Staff's view, Applicants' motion for an order compelling new i

and complete answers involves a matter of discovery between the Applicants and CEU.

Accordingly, we take no position with respect to the motion and 1

by this letter inform the Board that the Staff will not submit a response

~

to the motion.

Sincerely
