SECY-80-103B - PROPOSED L JENSE TO EXPORT SOURCE MATERIAL TO FRANCE (LICENSE APPLICATI% NO. XU08473, SECY-80-103A)

(COMMISSIONER ACTION ITEM)

This is to advise you that the Commissioners have reviewed the subject license to the U.S. Representative Office of ENEL.

The Commission (with all Commissioners approving) has accepted your recommendation to export to France 20,000 metric tons of depleted uranium in the form of uranium hexafluoride.

In connection with his approval, Commissioner Gilinsky provided the following statement:

  • I note this export is equivalent to about 30 reactor reloads.

I approve on the understanding that this depleted uranium will be treated as would be natural uranium."

The Office of International Programs was informed of this action by telephone on May 2, 1980.
