Attacned, please fina the revised Physical Security Plan for the U. ion Caroide Corporation - Medical Products Division at Tuxedo, New York, submitted in accordance with 10 CFR Part 73.67.
Tne single plan covers activities and materials licensec under the two following licenses:
NRC License Number R-81, Docket Number 50-54 NRC License Number SNM-639, Docket Number 70-687 The pian is submitted to your attention because of the current R-81 license renewal effort. We trust that you will review ir jointly with Nuclear Material Safety and Safeguards.
License SNM-639 presently exempts irradiated target material in hot cells from the requirements of 10 CFR Part 73.50.
The Upgrade Rule has re-structureo Part 73 such that the intent of the exemption applies to parts other than 73.50 while 73.50 is no longer applicable to our facility.
We will officially request tne appropriate revision in the near future. At tne same time, we will be asking that the exemption apply to two other forms, one, a proposed waste storage vault which, when secured, will offer the same degree of protection as the hot cells, and two, non-reccverable material dispersed in small concentrations in waste drums. The Plan has been written as though these modifications to the exemption exist, which is expected to be the case upon implementation of the Plan.
