Gaithersburg, Maryland The Division of Reactor Safety Research, Office of Nuclear Regulatory Research, NRC, will hold its Eighth Water Reactor Safety Research Information Meeting at the National Bureau of Standards on October 27-31, 1980. The 5-day meeting will highlight research results and accomplish-ments achieved during the past year. Concurrent sessions cc<ering major research areas are planned as follows:

October 27 - LOFT, Semiscale, and Fuel Behavior Research October 28 - Analysis Development, Fuel Behavior Research, and Instrumentation October 29 - 2D/3D Program, Separate Effects Tests, and Reactor Operational Safety Programs October 30 - Metallurgy and Materials and Seismic Safety Research October 31 - Metallurgy and Materials, Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Site Safety Research The agenda for this meeting will be sent to you at a later date. With the exception of Metallurgy and Materials, the sessions scheduled on October 30 and 31 in the areas of Seismic Safety Research, Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Site Safety Research are appearing for the first time in this series of meetings.

There will be a registration fee of $7.00 per day for each day of attendance at the meeting, payable at the time of the meeting.

Please do not send in advance payments. The registration charge is necessary to defray costs of prepaid luncheons and refreshments. Cafeteria tickets will be issued as in the past and access to the cafeteria can only be made through the presentation of a cafeteria ticket.

October 27-31, 1980 Individuals planning to attend the 8th Water Reactor Safety Research Infor-mation Meeting should make their own motel reservations. Reservations should be made early to assure accommodations. Although the motels listed on this page have set aside blocks of rooms for attendees at the safety meeting, this does not constitute an endorsement of these motels by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and other motels in the ares may be contacted for accommodations.
