National Valve and Manufacturing Company Docket No. 99900023/79-01 Notice of Deviation Based on the results of an NRC inspection conducted on February 25-29, 1980 it appears that certain of your activities were not conducted in accordance with NRC requirements as indicated belov:
Criterion V of Appendix B to 10 CFR 50 states:
" Activities affect.ing quality shall be prescribed by documented instructions, procedures or draaings, of a type appropriate to the circumstances and shall be accomplished in accordance with these instructions, procedures, or drawings.
Instructions, procedures, or drawings shall include appropriate quantitative or qualitative acceptance criteria for determining that important activities have been satisfactorily accomplished." Deviations from these requirements are as follows:
Navco Procedure CP 8 paragraph 3.2, sub paragraph 4, states in part, "The meters on automatic and semi-automatic welding machines shall be calibrated.
Contrary to the above, the meters on automatic welding machines were not
. calibrated in that:
1.
Welding machine No. 1203 had not been calibrated and was being used for production welding.
2.
A different head had been installed on power source 1061 and had not been recalibrated as a unit.

Welding machine No. 1061 did not appear on the schedule of equip-l ment requiring calibration.
