Snyder, Program Director Three Mile Island Program Office Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, DC 20555

Dear Mr. Snyder:

We appreciate receiving the documents entitled " Environmental Assessment for Decontamination of the Three Mile Island Unit 2 Reactor Building Atmosphere." You have asked us for comments.

Apparently every phase of nuclear power has its proponents and opponents, even among learned and experienced scientists.

Naturally, those of us who live and work in close proximity to Three Mile Island have formed opinions on various issues concerning nuclear power, and especially the decontamination of Unit 2.

While we believe it necessary to protect the local population and we want to insure the safety of our products manufactured here in Hershey, we feel we cannot comment as to which course is the most appropriate alternative under the existing circumstances. Rather, we would look to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission to insure the safety of all citizens as it relates to nuclear power.

Thank you for forwarding the information concerning the choices as you view them and for keeping us informed of the matter.

Sincerely yours,

+
