The idformation presented is as initially received without verification or,, eval,uation and is basically all that is known by IE staff as of this,date.

FACILITY:

Tennessee Valley Authority Sequoyah, Unit Nos. I and.2 Docket Nos. 50-327 and 50-328 Daisy, Tennessee

SUBJECT:

BOMB THREAT on April 23, 1980, at approximately 2:30 a.m., a boinb threat was received by the desk officer on the Unit 2 construction site.

An unidentified male asked the of fi cer:

"How would you like to check out a bomb threat in the component cooling

~

system - Reactor 17 Never mind - I'm just one of those anti-nuclear people.

Never mind - I don't know, I was just suppose to call at 2:30." After the caller hung up, Unit I was notified.

The auxiliary building was evacuated at 2:40 a.m.

A search was conducted with negative results.

While the search was being conducted on Unit 1, the Unit 2 desk officer received another call from an unidentified male (believed to be the same caller as in the previous call).

A Hamilton County Sheriff deputy called the Unit 1 Central Alans Station and stated that radio station LTLI had telephoned the Sherif f's Department at approximately 3:00 a.m., stating that two telephone calls concerning a bomb threat had been recieved at the station.

Initial fuel loading has been completed on Unit 1.

Unit 2 construction is 96% complete.

Media interest is anticipated.

A news release is not planned by the licensee or the NRC. The FBI was notified by the licensee.

The NRC Operations Center received notification of this occurrence by telephone f rom the licensee at-3:30 a.m. on April 23, 1980.

The IAT was notified.

Region 11 (Atlanta) received notification of this occurrence by telephone from the NRC Operations Center at 3:31 a.m. on April 23, 1980.
