e WALNUT CR E E K, CALIFORNIA 94596 APR 211980 Docket No. 70-25 Rockwell Internctional Energy Systems Group 3800 DeSoto Avenue Canoga Park, California 91304 Attention: Mr. Robert Jones Vice President Gentlemen:
Reference:
Dr. "M. E. Remley's letter of March 31, 1980 to Mr. L. R. Norderhaug Thank you for the referenced letter in response to our Notice of Violation dated March 10, 1980. Based upon the information, rovided in that letter and at a meeting with you and members of your staff on April 17, 1980, we note the following:
1.'
With reference to Item 2 of the Notice of Violation, the meeting brought to light information unknown at the time of the exit interview which affects the apparent item of noncompliance dealing with alert codes.
It appears that the codes as discussed at the meeting comply with the basic requirements as they presently exist.
2.
The corrective action described with regard to the remaining items: Item 1, providing certain guards with spare eyeglasses, and Item 3, assuring adequate training in contingency plan procedures appears adequate.
We will review the implementation of these security measures and corrective actions during our next visit.
It has been, and continues to be, the practice of the Office of Inspection and Enforcement inspectors to hold exit meetings with licensee management after each inspection. These meetings are for the purpose of a full and free exchange of infomation and to specifically discuss significant results of the inspection. We trust that such meetings can continue to be a forum for frank discussion of the inspectors' findings and any mitigating condit-ions of which you may be aware.
l Rockwell International APR 211980 We appreciated the cpportunity provided by your visit to discuss mutual problems of comunication and to clarify certain report inaccuracies identified in your letter. While those inaccuracies, with one exception, did not significantly affect the findings, they have been noted in our records.
Sincerely, iW E -
A R. H. Engelken Director 9
