Chatsworth, CA Docket No. 99900116/80-01 NOTICE OF DEVIATION Based on the results of an NRC inspection conducted on January 28-31, 1980, it appeared that certain of your activities were not conducted in full com-pliance with NRC requirements as indicated below:

Criterion V of Appendix B to 10 CFR 50 states:

" Activities affecting quality shall be prescribed by documented instructions, procedures, or drawings, of a type appropriate to the circumstances and shall be accomplished in accordance with these instructions, procedures, or drawings.

Instructions, pro-cedures, or drawings shall include appropriate quantitative or qualitative acceptance criteria for determining that important activities have been satisfactorily accomplished."

Bunker-Ramo Quality Assurance Procedure 3-1 Calibration and Maintenance of Test Instrumentation and Equipment, paragraph 4.9, dated January 5,1971, states in part, "An inactive storage area shall be maintained for the stor-age and hold of measuring instruments and electrical testing equipment that are not in current use.

Contrary to the above, inactive instruments were stored, intermingled with instruments used for daily activities affecting quality, in storage cabinets in the electrical calibration laboratory.

These inactive instruments were unmarked or were not in the calibration recall system, examples:

sweep gen-erator no. 3428 and portable power supply no. 3039.
