Dear Mr. MacDonald:
We respectfully request an amendment of Certificate of Compliance No. 9108 to authorize the use of SAE, Grade 8, 3/4 - 10 x 2 " long bolts (Minimum Tensile Strength - 150,000 psi, Minimum Yield Strength - 120,000 psi) for securing the primary lid to the cask body.
Drawing No. 1036-D-01, Revision H, calls out a 3/4" - 10 x 3" bolt which bottoms out before the lid is secured.
The 2 "
bolt will not reduce the thread engagement in any way.
Note No. 15 on the drawing calls out this bolt change.
We are enclosing eight (8) copies of Revision J (Revision levels I and O are not used) to Drawing No. 1036-D-01.
As required by Section 170.31 (11) (c) of 10CFR 71, we are enclosing our check in the amount of $690.00 as payment for a minor amendment.
