Dear Mr. Madsen:

This letter is 1n response to the Notice of Violation and the Notice

~

of Deviation received as a result of inspections conducted at this facility during the period December 31, 1979 to January 31, 1980.

The Notice of Violation has prompted the following actions:

A.

An operations order, dated January 31, 1980 has been issued which requires that "The day tanks are to be filled above the 500 gallon point af ter each and every operation of the diesel generator units."

B.

A scale graduated in gallons has been installed adjacent to the sight glass for quick tank inventory verification capability.

C.

The licensee has submitted a Technical Specification Change Request, P-79056 March 7, 1979, which would only require 325 gallons in the day tank instead of the 500 gallons now required.

We believe we are now in compliance.

The Notice of Deviation corrective action is as follows:

A.

The instrument has a tag stating the warm-up requirement.

B.

The licensee standards laboratory has been requested to test the instrument for accuracy during the warm-up period, when the instrument is calibrated.

We believe the noted actions will prevent further occurrences of this typed.

We are now in compliance.

Very truly yours, OECA2 L tir ey _
