Dear Mr. Seyfrit:
River Bend Station - Unit 1 Docket No. 50 458 This letter is to inform you of the shop modifications that are being made to the River Bend Unit l' reactor pressure vessel at CBIN.
This work involves plugging of the CRD return nozzle and replacement of the safe-ends on the feedwater and 'recire nozzles.
The work is being done in'accordance with design im-zi provements' recommended by General Electric to enhance the vessel's ability to resist thermal cycling during plant operation. Although CSU has taken title to the vessel and it has been N-stamped, GSU ~
has designated GE to act as our agent in doing the ! modification work and be responsible for the appropriate ASME documentation. We
_ understand that GE intends to commence this work as soon as possible.
