UNITED STATES NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION DOCKET NO. 50-309 MAINE YANKEE ATOMIC POWER COMPANY NOTICE OF ISSUANCE OF AMENDMENT TO FACILITY OPERATING LICENSE The U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Comission (the Commission) has issued Amendment No. 48 to Facility Operating License No. DPR-36, issued to Maine Yankee Atomic Power Company (the licensee), which revised the Technical Specifications for operation of the Maine Yankee Atomic Power Station (the facility), located in Lincoln County, Maine. The amendment is effective as of its date of issuance.

This amendment revises the Technical Specifications to support upration of the facility at full rated power during Cycle 5.

The application for amendment complies with the standards and require-ments of the Atomic Energy Act of 1954, as amended (the Act), and the Commission's rules and regulations. The Comission has made appropriate findings as required by the Act and the Comission's rules and regulations in 10 CFR Chapter I, which are set forth in the license amendment.

Prior public notice of th s amendment was not required since the amendment does not involve a significant hazards consideration.

The Commission has determined that the issuance of this amendment will not result in any significant environmental impact and that pursuant to 10 CFR 551.5(d)(4) an environmental impact statement or negative declaration and environmental impact appraisal need not be prepared in connection with issuance of this amendment.
