Washington, D. C. 20555 Re: Public Service Company or New Hampshire, Docket Nos. 50 4h3 and 50-444; Request for Partial Transfer of Construction  :

Permits.

Dear Mr. Rubenstein:

1 Enclosed herewith for filing in the above dockets are twenty-five copies of Supplement No. 4 to Amendment No. 40 to the above License Application. This Supplement sets )

forth the final details of the proposed readjustments between 1 Public Service Company of New Hampshire and certain other l participants and supplies the balance of the supporting mater- f ial which the Staff has indicated it needs, except that the background material on New Hampshire Electric Cooperative, )

Inc. is not included herein.

)

I would reiterate the request contained in these filings that the Staff proceed to issue a prompt order with respect to transfers by The United Illuminating Company and with respect to all proposed readjustments by Public Service Company of New Hampshire other than the transactions with the New Hampshire Cooperative. The receipt of such Commission orders will permit United Illuminating Company to consummate one of its transac-tions forthwith and will permit the other transactions to be consummated as socn as the Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities issues its approval. Cbviously, it is in the best interests of all the invcived utilities to have these transac-tions implemented as soon as possible.

Very truly yours, Jchr/ A. Ritsher JAR: val Enclosures [
