Joseph M. Hendrie, Chairman U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, D.C.

Dear Chairman Hendrie:
I understand that you have been asked by certain Pennsylvanians to expedite the reopening of the Unit I reactor at Three Mile Island. As a resident of the Harrisburg area, I am adamantly opposed to the reopening of Unit 1, and am appalled by that possibility.
iletropolitan Edison's repeated safety violations and blatant disregard of NRC regulations make it imperative that the plant stay shut down.
I urge you on behalf of the people who live in this area, who have already been exposed to the most serious health risks (not to mention mental anguiah), to do everything in your power to prevent another accident that "could not happen." The only way to accomplish this is to close TMI permanently.
Sincerely, h
